
Life Insurance Leads
Life insurance leads are the lifeblood of any insurance agent, this is one of the first lessons that a life insurance agent in training learns. There are many many ways, especially with the advent of the internet and social networking, for a life insurance agent to find excellent life insurance leads.
But that’s only part of the battle. It’s what you do with the life insurance leads that really counts in your line of business. As you may already know, using internet services to provide targeted life insurance leads is an excellent way of creating a brand new list that has been pre-qualified. Now, when you get huge number of leads, you think this is great, now all you have to do is… Oh wait, what do you have to do?
There are the usual marketing ways; the letter, the package, the phone calls. But, if you have, for instance, a hundred good qualified life insurance leads that have already been sorted out geographically so that you know which ones are closest to you, what is the best approach in turning these leads into clients?
You don’t want to make them wait if they’re on your lead list, because they’re looking for insurance now. There’s no point moseying through the list so that you’d finally get in touch with some of these leads three months down the road. If they’re eagerly looking for life insurance, they’re looking for it now, and they don’t want to wait three months to hear from you.
If they do wait even a month to hear from you, they might get the impression that you’re not the eager go-getting life insurance agent that they want and need. One of the most frustrating and surprising things that happened to me in looking for insurance, was going out of my way to call an agent, explaining exactly the kind of insurance I wanted, and have him say, “I’ll work at a price to get back to you”, and never returning my call.
To put it succinctly, finding life insurance leads, which has always been called the hardest part, isn’t really the hardest part. It’s the first part of a complicated relationship that you’re about to build. You have the names, you’ve got to deal with them, which means that you have to work out a game plan. You might be better off getting fewer leads and turning these into clients, or at least contact them to see if you can turn them into clients before you buy a whole stack of leads online.
